Dental FAQ

What are the early signs of dental issues?

There are numerous early signs that could indicate you may need to seek the help of a dentist. If you experience mouth sores, jaw pain, swollen gums or face, tooth sensitivity, a broken tooth or dry mouth, you should visit your dentist as soon as possible. Bleeding gums and bad breath or a prolonged bad taste in your mouth may also indicate you have an issue that needs to be examined.

Are routine dental exams really necessary?

Routine dental appointments are necessary for the dental team to identify any early signs of dental problems to prevent the risk of bigger and more complicated treatments in the future. Routine exams usually include a visit to the dental hygienist, who will clean the teeth before the dentist carried out a thorough examination of your teeth, gums and mouth.

I have heard X-rays are used in dental assessments – are they safe?

Many patients have concerns when it comes to having dental x-rays. X-rays help to check tooth and gum health and can often show potential teeth and root problems before they are become painful and obvious. All relevant precautions are taken by the EyeSmile team to protect patients during dental x-rays, and we at EyeSmile have invested in the latest digital x-ray instrumentation, which reduces the amount of radiation used in the scan. You will have x-rays every six months to two years depending on the overall condition of your teeth and gums.

How can I improve my smile?

Having bad teeth and imperfections can cause you to hide your teeth when you smile. From a chipped tooth to yellowing teeth to poor oral health, there are numerous reasons why you might not want to show your teeth when smiling. Porcelain veneers, tooth whitening treatments and dental implants are just some of the treatments offered at EyeSmile to help improve your smile. Speak to the EyeSmile team today to discuss how we can help, bringing back your smile and confidence.
